Why Do You Not Like My Boat?
Author: Fat Plaid ShirtAs we come upon that time to start cramming for finals, I remember the circle of friends that hung out with us all last year. Well, let me get this out in the open: I feel like my friends who transferred kind of let us down. We went through the first year together. We all sat in the library, we all ordered food from the same delivery places, we all complained about the same profs and confusions, we were all together. Everyone was on the same boat. It’s not that I don’t like my friends who transferred, but we no longer have the same ride anymore. Same ocean, but different rides.
I don’t necessarily think they were wrong, because hey, if you can step up to a yacht from a row boat, well, quit rowing and take the ship with the motor. But still, I feel like everyone that transferred is now in a different world. We are taking the same classes, but the situations are now different. It’s hard to share stories because as happens in law school, if you didn’t actually hear it, you shouldn’t be told about it because it loses it’s flavor as you explain it’s context.
Do hobos ever have these kind of thoughts when they move from one city to another, or do they remain dedicated to the cause and simply share stories around the annual hobo convention?

Well, transfer in students don’t seem to fare well either. We accept them, because it’s law school and they are 2Ls. However, they didn’t suffer with us, so although we are friends, they didn’t suffer with us either the first year, so its like they are foreign organs and we take medicine to make the body accept them.

The second year is just never as good as the first. Like the rest of the relationship is never as good as the first three months. Good luck on your finals!
